Description: Small Quarto. One of 50 copies privately printed for Herbert Lionel Rothchild, Christmas 1925. Tipped-in compliment slip of Mr. Rothchild, with his ink inscription on a front blank: "With good wishes, my dear James - Your friend Herbert L.R." Unpaginated [21]. Original quarter cream parchment spine and brown paper boards, with gilt-stamped title within a frame. Two fine facsimile letters tipped-in, one being a verse manuscript to M. Donat, along with transcriptions and a translation of the letter written in French. Fine, near new copy, housed in the elusive matching brown paper dust wrapper. Spine of wrapper just a tad faded, and with a small 2.5 cm closed tear in the center of the rear gutter, else near fine. All contained within a slipcase covered with matching brown paper. Slipcase a tad shelf worn, with a 3.5 cm slit at the rear joint. Overall, a fine, collectible copy.
