The wrapper is toned and brittle and in two sections, plus a section of the spine strip with the majority of the title. The boards are faded to the extremities with minor marks. the endpapers are lightly toned. Sound binding and fine hinges. Clean internally. Frontis by Picasso.

Description: Hardbound octavo in dustwrapper. 67 pp. First edition, # 15 of 600 copies of this book of poems. Although not stated, book was published in 1936. Includes a drawing by Pablo Picasso and translations by Samuel Beckett, Man Ray and Ruthven Todd among several others. Edited by George Reavey who was Samuel Beckett's first literary agent. This copy has been SIGNED BY ELUARD AS WELL AS GEORGE REAVEY. About very good with sunning to spine and light offsetting to endpapers. The fragile dustwrapper is clipped at lower front flap, has a noticable chip at the top of the spine area the rear panel and has some small tape mends to the verso . Despite flaws, a decent copy of a scarce book, especially in dustwrapper and quite scarce being one of only 50 copies designated for signature.
