Description: 21pp. G++/no jacket. Orange coloured paper covered boards with cream coloured paper covered spine with gilt lettering. Two black ink stains to lower board edge at face of book (15mm width each). Split to rear hinge of tail of spine cover (40mm). Shelf wear to tail of spine. Original booksellers label tipped to lower edge of front paste down (H.V. Day of Dorchester, Dorset, England). Frontispiece is a wood engraving by Percy Grassby of "The house on the edge of Egdon Heath in which Thomas Hardy was born.". Lower right hand corners have been badly cut by the printer. Few brown spots on edge of rear paste down. This is volume #16 on the publisher's Keepsake series. Limited edition of 425 copies only printed in December 1942. Number 343 written in pencil at hinge of front end papers. Not ex Library.
