Description: Bound in green cloth with illustrations in black and gilt on the front and spine, faded particularly on the spine, edge-worn especially at spine ends, one or two "bubbles" under the cloth. Gilt along top of closed page edge. Text block sound, attachment to binding beginning too weaken along top edge where webbing is revealed between the patterned front end papers. No inscriptions, pages age-toned but smooth, one or two spots here and there. With ninety-five illustrations, and a frontispiece portrait with tissue-guard.

Faint bubbling of cloth at head of front board, some offsetting to endpapers probably from a former enclosure: overall a sound and attractive copy, with signature on half-title of noted New Zealand book collector Percy Watts Rule of Timaru.

Description: xviii, 232 pages. 7.5 x 6 inches. Finely bound in contemporary brown morocco over feathered paper, with five raised bands, label and decoration to spine. Miniscule bookseller's stamp to top left verso front endpaper: Harrison 59 Pall Mall. Feathered endpapers, with armorial bookplate front pastedown [Henry Ralph Lambton]. Small ownership signature at top left of first blank endpaper dated 1985. First few and final few leaves show considerable foxing; frontispiece tissue guard also foxed. Otherwise the interior is clean and free of marks. All edges feathered, with top edge dulled. No ads bound in at rear. Binding and hinges are fully secure. A handsome volume.
