Description: One of a limited edition of 616 copies, this is copy "G",one of 26 copies numbered from A to Z, issued for the Trustees of The William Blake Trust, and the Publishers. This was George Goyder's copy, with his small armorial bookplate on the front pastedown of the larger of the two volumes. Two volumes both bound in tan quarter leather morocco with hand-marbled paper covered boards in matching marbled hardbound slipcase. The two volumes contain altogether a total of 20,of Blake's prints, Series a, the smaller volume, with 9 prints, Series b. the larger volume, with 11 prints, (plus one substitute for missing plate III.) It remains unclear what Blakes actual intentions where when devising the prints. The division into the two books, was made by conjecture and deduction by those who came after, which is explained in the text. The plates were reproduced in Paris at the Trianon Press in two- or three colour collotype and hand-stencil process. Printed on Arches pure rag paper to match the paper used by Blake. The editorial matter was printed by the Impremerie Darantiere, Dijon, the binding was by Duval, Paris, and the hand made slip-case by Adine, Paris. Both volumes are very good indeed, The slipcase is rubbed to the edges and corners.
