Corners to the boards restored.Nicely engraved frontispiece portraits of John Milton in each volume and with attractive head and tail pieces. The eleventh edition edited by Thomas Ticknell (1685-1740). Moyles in his work on the Text of Paradise Lost, A Study in Editorial Procedure, p53 writes that while this edition is not textually significant, "it is impressively beautiful and as such, with the inclusion of Addison's 'Notes upon the Twelve Books of Paradise Lost" Lowndes III p1555 "Tickell's edition with Addison's criticism on the Paradise Lost, and an index of principal matters. Splendidly printed". Old signature of H. Wilcock on the title page. Occasional marginal annotations in pencil. Scattered foxing to the preliminary leaves and a faint white spot on the rear board on volume II. An attractive set.
