Description: One of 975 copies (of 1000), this being the first state with 'language' misspelled on p. ix. 8vo. Quarter dark brown cloth gilt and three-quarter pictorial light brown paper-covered boards. xiv, 108pp. 'With this collection, for the first time the three earliest works of William Everson are being made generally available; the individual books were printed in small editions and were not actively distributed. Only a small percentage of the work in this volume is included in "The Residual Years", the author's cumulative edition of his work published in 1948 by New Directions.' Spotting to the head edge and pastedowns/endpapers, the jacket slightly rubbed with tiny, unobtrusive chips at the spine ends, the lower panel somewhat marked, and with areas of spotting such as to the lower flap, but about Very Good overall. This copy has the ownership inscription of Andrew Crozier.

Also, three small broadsides (the same) from circa 1988, after the poet's death, laid in. Near fine in a near fine dust jacket, with light wear to top edge. Letter folded but like the envelope fine.(In removable protective archival covers.). Covici was a rare book librarian at UC, a collector of and friend of Duncan. Books from his collection often have extensive notes by Duncan regading the somewhat complicated bibliography of RD.
