No indication concerning the edition nor any printing history; the copyright page does have"F-N" near the bottom, which for Harpers means it was published in June (F) in 1913 (N). Part of a 25 volume set of Twain's writings. 8-3/8" tall, 319 numbered pages; one-piece plain khaki/green cloth covered boards, gilt lettering on spine, front board is plain; plain ivory end pages; fore edge and bottom edge are rough cut, top edge is gilt. The book is in near fine condition and does not appear to have been read: it is square, very clean, corners and edges free of bumps and dings, heel of spine intact, head of spine is lightly pulled; hinges are tight and not damaged in any fashion; fore edge has numerous very tiny tan/light brown 'age spots' which penetrate no more than 1/16". The interior is completely free of writing, stray marks, stains of any sort and page damage of any type. Spine is intact and not cracked or broken. Paper is very lightly toned and is very flexible; pages are tight and clean with no marks. There are two illustration plus a frontis. The following declaration is just after the FFEP: "This is the authorized Uniform Edition of all my books. Mark Twain". No other discernible or objectionable faults on book such as marks or writing within, stains, tears, chips, or other damage that would diminish its appearance. No remainder mark, no previous owner markings or inscriptions, not price clipped, not a book club edition, not a former library book.

This is the "Harpers & Brothers" edition, though published by Collier. This means that the original H & B edition was reprinted by Collier from the same sheets. This Collier edition is called the Author's National Edition, and has a note in Mark Twain's handwriting stating "This is the authorized Uniform Edition of my books. Mark Twain." Quiet Companion has 10 of the 25 volume set, for sale individually or as a set. Discounted price for the set. You will notice that my book descriptions are not generic, saying "may have." certain conditions. All descriptions are written with actual book in hand.
