Modern owner's bookplate to inner front board. Age-darkening to page-edges, some blothing to title-page and other preliminary pages. The occasional light blotch to pages, otherwise pages are clean and the binding is sound.

Henry Fielding was a popular English novelist of the eighteenth century, one of the founders of the traditional English novel alongside Samuel Richardson. Though important in the literary world, Fielding is also noted in the history of law enforcement, as he founded the Bow Street Runners, the first full-time police force in London. Tom Jones is probably Fielding's best known work, a comical picaresque Bildungsroman originally published in 1749; here illustrated by W.
