Text has some plates. First American edition, 1875. Condition is VERY GOOD ; covers clean with surface rubbing, spine is not toned, with spine titles bright. Corners bumped with moderate wear, moderate wear to spine ends with a tiny nick to spine head. Binding tight, brown paper overlay at the front has a break but hinge is undamaged and strong. Text clean, bright and unmarked. Fic. RGR. Case.

In original green publisher's cloth, titled in gilt on spine; brown coated endpapers; two pages of ads at front and 8 pp of Harper & Brothers' Summer Book-List at rear; [1] 2-4 [5-11] 12-408pp; two wood-engraved frontispieces and numerous in-text wood engravings by Lionel Grimston Fawkes; text in double columns. With the ticket of "Henry H. Van Siclen, Bibliophile." Clean and tight, though board edges are rubbed, cloth is somewhat dulled, and front hinge is cracked but holding; a Very Good copy. Considered to be one of Trollope's most significant novels, a satirical examination of the financial and political depression of the 1870s.
