Green half leather and marbled boards with five raised bands and decorated spine. Title on burgundy leather label on spine. Endpapers and all edges marbled. This once handsome binding is now a bit rubbed and worn and spine has been partly reattached. Front cover is nearly detached. Very clean tight text. Most suitable to restore.

Contemporary engraved bookplate by Spenceley on front pastedown. Spine evenly sunned to brown and modest general wear, corners just worn through and two tiny nicks in the leather on the rear cover, very good and sound. The bookplate is that of Gustavia H. Senff, widow of sugar manufacturer and art collector Charles H. Senff. When Gustavia Senff died in 1927, her estate was estimated to be worth $2 million. Sadleir 33.
