To the reverse of the frontispiece is the pencilled signature and date of Autumn, 1903 by the illustrator, etcher, and marine artist, Norman Wilkinson. Some of the authors included in this important anthology are John Masefield, G. K. Chesterton, A. E. Housman, Thomas Hardy, Laurence Housman, and W. Somerset Maugham. Illustrators include Charles S. Extremely rare as the contributions include the first printing of two poems by Joyce 1: What Counsel Has The Hooded Moon; and 2: Thou Leanest To The Shell of Night. These poems subsequently appeared in Joyce's first printed book entitled 'Chamber Music' see Slocum & Cahoon B2 published two years later. NOTE: The list of contributors to this annual is an imposing one gathering in its net the names among others of Chesterton Hardy Housman Francis Thompson Maugham and of course Joyce on the literary side with Shannon Ricketts Pissarro and Rackham among the illustrators.
