Beardsley, Aubrey and C. Lewis Hind. The Uncollected Work of Aubrey Beardsley. John Lane The Bodley Head Ltd., London/Dodd, Mead and Company, New York, 1925.

Price: US$75.00 + shipping

Condition: Good

Description: First edition hardcover, bound in cream cloth, with blue decoration and lettering on front cover, and same on spine, is in G condition, having stains to front and back covers, chipping on bottom spine, some wear at top spine, rubbing and soiling to covers; bumped and worn cover corners; first free endpaper has been damaged by long-gone silverfish (no other S damage detected in book); very slight shaking to volume; interior pages have normal age-toning, and occasional handling wear: scuffs, and here and there very small chips to edges. A massive and really quite wonderful tribute to the artist Beardsley, featuring hitherto unpublished sketches and doodles. Most of the illustrations (very well reproduced) are b&w, but there are at least two color plates, and some partially-colored sketches as well. A lot of the drawings are whimsical and humorous, some are downright beautiful, and other pure Beardsley bizarrie. With a lengthy Introduction by C. Lewis Hind, and some portraits of Beardsley by others. All illustrations are present. Art. Drawing. Due to the enormous weight and size of the book, extra shipping cost may apply. DB.
