Edition limited to 1,500 numbered copies. McKitterick 44. *The frontispiece was engraved by C. Sigrist after a 1674 portrait by Robert White. The distinctive cloth for the binding was woven in two ways, with the title and design being either grey or red. In this copy they are red. George Herbert (1593- 633) was a Welsh metaphysical poet and Anglican priest. First published in 1633, The Temple comprised all his English poems, with a preface by Nicholas Ferrar.
