Externally excellent with only slight fading to the spine and a small closed tear to the head of the front joint. Offsetting to the free endpapers. Internally firmly bound with generally bright pages with only light age toning, the odd spot and offsetting to the title page from the frontispiece. Very Good Indeed

The distinctive cloth for the binding was woven in two ways, with the title and design being either grey or red. In this copy they are red. George Herbert (1593- 633) was a Welsh metaphysical poet and Anglican priest. First published in 1633, The Temple comprised all his English poems, with a preface by Nicholas Ferrar.
