Description: [1910] nd. An early edition of The Tale of Two Bad Mice with the endpapers that were printed in 1910 (Quinby Plate X). This makes this a later reprint from 1910 Grey boards with white writing. The book is in GOOD condition, lacking backstrip, boards sharp and clean, skilfully rebacked, the backstrip having had grey watercolour applied to it at some point. Lacks frontispiece. All pages present, no inscriptions, very bright throughout. Blanks to reverse of pages with plates. A near miss and not the first edition, and priced accordingly.

Description: 1910. First edition. 1910. First edition. 16mo tan paper-covered boards with a color pictorial overlay to the front cover. Pictorial endpapers and 27 color plates by the author. The pages are clean and bright with no markings. The spine is tight and binding excellent. Internally perfect! The tiniest foxing on the bottom of the spine. Some small spotting/discoloring on the cover and back otherwise would be a Very Fine copy!! Not ex-library! A beautiful first edition!!!!

Description: First edition, deluxe issue. 12mo. Blue moiré cloth with gilt stamped decoration and colour onlay to the upper cover. All edges gilt. Housed in custom made cloth box, with printed provenance label on the inside cover. A near fine copy, with the most minor rubs to the spine ends and short split to head of front hinge. Colour frontis and 26 colour plates by the author. This copy, from the library of the publisher's daughter, Winifred Warne, is in the very uncommon deluxe binding. Warne asked Beatrix Potter to provide a design for a deluxe edition of her book, a small number were produced in a fine, silk moiré cloth, the page edges gilded and the design to the covers embossed in gilt. These deluxe copies sold at the higher price of 1/6-, rather than the usual 1/- for the standard paper covered copies. PROVENANCE: Winifred Warne (later Boultbee), then family descent.
