Description: With the Reilly and Britton imprint rather than the later Reilly and Lee. This copy lists 14 titles in the Childrens Red Book series and has ads at rear for OZ books going up to The Emerald City of Oz, thus dating this copy to about 1910. Separate title pages for Sambo and Topsy. Exuberantly illustrated by Neill for both stories with endpapers by Enright. This copy worn with spine cloth detached and frayed, covers edgeworn and faded. Some soiling to the pages with a loss along the fore edge of the front free endpaper. Owner's inscription on front pastedown and verso of rear endpaper. Barton p. 210 (Pictus Orbus). 57 pp.

Description: Hardcover in light green cloth boards with pastedown picture on front of Sambo with umbrella and palm trees. No dust jacket. Later printing (circa 1925) . Book is generally crisp and clean, with tight binding and sharp corners. Green cloth is faded on rear and at spine. Penciled name of child on the "This Book Belongs To" page. Color art is bright and unfaded. Contains both The Story of Little Black Sambo and The Story of Topsy form Uncle Tom's Cabin, each illustrated by John Neill. Illustrated endpapers. 12mo. 57 pp. Plus a page ad for Oz books. (The Lost King of Oz is the last one listed) . A very nice copy.

Description: 56 numbered pp +2; HB. From the Children's Red Books series, includes both Little Black Sambo and the Story of Topsy. Filled with John R. Neill's magical illustrations that are by today's standards certainly not PC. Pages: clean, bright, tight, decorative color eps, color frontis; .one page has 2" tear, some others have tiny edge tears, occasional foxing, period gift inscription to sfep. Cover: red paper over boards, color artwork + white titles front; substantial shelfwear, extrems well worn, paper covering spine and adjacent are of boards is lost, with portions of text gone as well and crash showing through. Internals very nice, boards not so much. Scarce.

Description: 8vo hardcover volume with pictorial paper cover on front board. Boards are a blue grey cloth and have very little wear would rate the covers very good +. Boards are nice and tight but end papers have a tight crack. This has 57 pages of story. Sadly 5 pages have tears at the bottoms and several are wrinkled. No parts are missing. Contents very clean with no markings. Both Sambo and Topsy are dated 1908 but style of cover seems somewhat later.
