Description: Quarto. 290mm x 195mm. 4 pp. Card covers, illustrated to front, rear cover with some grubbiness. Three pages of text, the fourth is a full-page illustration done, somewhat in the style of a medieval painting. Small windows open in the manner of an Advent calendar behind which one can discover more animals. Sayers [1893-1957] was one of the 'Queens of Crime' an innovator in the field of detective fiction and, also, less recognised in the field of religious writing, which she sought to demystify. The illustrator, Fritz Wegner [1924-2015] from a Jewish family fled Austria when the Nazis came to power. He worked frequently for the publisher Hamish Hamilton.
