Description: Edel A48bff lists two bindings for the First American Edition, "(a) dark green and (b) brown vertical-ribbed cloth" with a "first printing consisting of 1500 copies . . . and a second impression . . . of 500 copies . . . [which] lack any imprint to distinguish them from the first issue." Our copy is bound in vertically striated chocolate brown cloth with gilt stamping at spine and on front cover identical to that of the green binding, but with the following differences: The textblock is trimmed on all sides, and the title page shows no date, while the copyright page shows 1896. We are assuming that this is probably a second issue, though Edel provides no information about such a variant. An absolutely Fine example, unworn, with no signs of age or use, and scarce thus. 323pp. Q15185
