Description: 12mo. 266, [10] pages. Hardcover bound in blue cloth with cover designs embossed in black and with cover lettering in red. Moderate rubbing to the binding. Spine is a bit dulled. A sound copy with secure inner hinges. Lacks the front flyleaf. The recto (back side) of the frontis has a prior owner's address label as well as an ink stamp for an antique shop in Vermont. The plate facing page 56 has a spot at the top left corner which was stuck to the facing page, showing abrasion to both plate and page. The text is a little toned but is generally clean. Contains 4 full-page plates, including the frontis.

Description: Due to the age of this collectible book, the green cloth boards slight show signs of wear. The pages are tanned with very little foxing and clean, text has no markings and the binding is sound. Previous owner's inscription on flyleaf. Spirit of the Border is an historical novel written by Zane Grey, published in 1906. This novel is based on events occurring in the Ohio River Valley in the late eighteenth century. It features the exploits of Lewis Wetzel, a historical personage who had dedicated his life to the destruction of Native Americans and to the protection of nascent white settlements in that region. The story deals with the attempt by Moravian Church missionaries to Christianize Indians and how two brothers' lives take different paths upon their arrival on the border.
