Description: First printing of the first UK paperback edition. Originally published in hardback in the UK by John Calder in 1964. ***Very good in colour illustrated card covers. Very light vertical reading crease to the spine. Spine tight. Laminate lifting slightly at the top edge of the front cover and spine. Tiny bump to head of spine. Back cover has very light vertical line indentation down the middle (hardly visible, unobtrusive, and not a crease - not visible on the inside of the back cover). Covers bright. Red lettering unfaded. Internally also very good with no inscriptions. No creases or tears. Paper stock tanned as usual. ***180mm x 111mm. 286 pages plus two page selection of titles from the publisher at the back of the book. ***'Mr. Burroughs joins a small body of writers who are willing to look at hell and report what they see.'
