The attack was Operation Dragoon, and this Army landed on the southern coast of France in August 1944. The German retreat was north up the Rhone valley, a nd the German Nineteenth Army was effected. French forces were linked with the 7th Army. The Vosges and the Alsace Plain were the next targets. The Army strength jumped from 3 to 11 Divisions in December 1944. In March 1945 Divisions crossed the Rhine, and pressed on to the Danube. Several senior German ge nerals were captured at the end. The third volume includes Seventh Army Order of Battle, Operations Instructions, numbers of casualties, D-Day Personnel of HQ Seventh Army. Clean tight set.
