King, Stephen. The Secretary of Dreams: Slipcased Gift Edition Volume One. Cemetery Dance Publications, Baltimore, 2006.

Price: US$894.50 + shipping

Condition: Fine

Description: A square solid tight clean unread copy. Slip case has some lightish rubbing wear, shallow indentions probably caused by stacking. THIS COPY IS IN MY POSSESSION AND WILL NORMALLY SHIP NEXT DAY. One of 5,000 trade editions. This unique book displays an incredible and original blend of King's words with Chadbourne's one-of-a-kind illustrations. As you venture into The Secretary of Dreams you'll discover "Home Delivery," "Jerusalem's Lot," and "The Reach" presented on beautifully designed over size pages. These stories are heavily illustrated with spot artwork, full page illustrations, and even multiple-page art spreads. Dozens of painstakingly crafted illustrations bring King's characters to life. Also within this collection are "The Road Virus Heads North," "Rainy Season," and "Uncle Otto's Truck," which appear for the very first time in full graphic format as imagined by Chadbourne. Not one word from King's original manuscripts has been left out. Instead Chadbourne presents the stories through a variety of techniques: traditional paragraphs of text merged directly into the artwork, handwritten bursts of dialogue to convey emotion, and even multiple fonts to match the mood of each scene. The Secretary of Dreams is a collection of Stephen King's greatest short stories presented in a way never before imagined. Glenn Chadbourne spent over two years creating the artwork within these pages, digging deep inside the text to make each of these classic tales burst off the page. An original Cemetery Dance Publication. Size: Folio - over 12 - 15" tall

King, Stephen. The Secretary of Dreams, Volume One [Proof]. Cemetery Dance, Baltimore, MD, 2006.

Price: US$900.00 + shipping

Condition: Fine

Description: An advance copy of this collection of short stories by King illustrated by Glenn Chadbourne. This proof, one of the largest I've seen from any publisher, is full-size, with color illustrated wrappers, and the dust jacket for the trade (the so-called gift) edition. This proof is relatively scarce, and probably was acquired by the previous owner direct for Cemetery Dance and it is housed in a traycase for the numbered edition. 281 pages. 9-1/4 by 12-1/4 inches. An advance copy, fine in decorated wrappers and a fine dust jacket in a near fine traycase, with minor denting to the edges. Most likely, the previous owner, a long-time CD collector, obtained the proof and the traycase to house it directly from the publisher (rather than from a book reviewer). Very scarce so nicely protected by the traycase.
