Description: Later printing with catalog at rear dated February 1910. Red cloth with gilt stamped lettering in gilt stamped borders. The volume is bumnped on the corners (top front is briefly exposed), pushed and bumped on the spine ends (with a triangular ¼" x ¼" abrasion on the crown), and the spine is moderately sunned, diminishing the intensity of the gilt. There is a small area of discolortion on the front panel The front hinge is starting, the text leaves are lightly toned and there is occasional marginal foxing. Good only.

Inside, the pages and papertrims are foxed throughout. Nonetheless, the pages are tight, comfortable, clear, contented and certain. fk. Externally the book is rubbed with fraying to the spine ends, a couple of worn spots at the sides of the spine.Corners rounded. Inside all complete and in good order with offsetting to endpapers and spotting to adjacent pages. A good copy.

This is a very good copy of a rather uncommon book; as is often the case with the red Methuen bindings, the spine is somewhat faded with loss of gilt. Pastedowns and first few pages show foxing.
