Description: Reprinted November, 1943 stated. 5 3/4 x 8 1/4 Book; binding tight with near fine titles to spine, straight red cloth boards have minor toning to top 1/2" to front edge with minimal rubbing to corners and bottom front edge; name in black pen and small address label to front free end page with unused card sleeve with "Lewis The Screwtape Letters" typed to front of sleeve to front paste down and mild soil spot to six pages else text free of marks, appears gently read. Dust jacket ($1.50) has 2" paper loss along bottom front cover and spine and 1" x 1" paper loss to bottom rear cover with few short closed tears and mild toning to spine. Color sharp to covers. Under archival quality mylar cover. Photos upon request. Packed well and shipped in a sturdy box.

Corners and spine ends very mildly bumped with minimal wear. Binding tight. Upper text edge a bit toned. Gift message on ffep c. 1940's. Text otherwise spotless. Scarce DJ is VERY GOOD ; upper flap corner clipped, lower corner has $1.50. Very clean, mildy toned. edges have some chips and spine head has a small open tear with most of "the" in title gone. In a mylar wrapper. Rare. RGR.

Description: First Edition, First Printing of the North American Edition, published the year after Geoffrey Bles and with all requisite criteria as called for by Brown in his "In Pursuit of C.S. Lewis: Adventures in Collecting His Works." 8vo. 160pp. Publisher's dark maroon cloth. VERY GOOD in Good dust jacket protected in a removable mylar cover. The book itself shows some very light rubbing at the bottommost of the front board, endpapers and paste-downs with even, natural and light toning, former owner name neatly on the endpaper, otherwise the binding is strong and tight, the text is clean and unmarked, and the boards are bright and colorful. The dust jacket shows some rubbing at the edges with small chips, the occasional light blemish, spine and panels somewhat toned, two closed tears at both flap hinges which present nicely underneath the archival mylar, otherwise remains bright and distinct, retaining the original price of $1.50. Description: 9th printing of 1st American Edition. Book is clean, unmarked, spine tight, slightly tanned endpapers, tips with minuscule rubbing and spine ends slightly worn. The dust jacket is price clipped and has loss and chipping at spine ends with about a two inch x 1/3 inch loss at front cover tip. Other small chips at points and some edges. Jacket has a smudge on the front and overall aging. Looks great now in its new shiny plastic cover. Shipping box is suitable for wrapping with a non-price listed purchase order inside along with biodegradable packing.
