Bloch, Robert. Scarf, The. New York NY: Dial Press, 1947, New York NY, 1947.

Price: US$65.00 + shipping

Condition: Very Good

Description: Hard Cover. First Edition. Bloch's third book and first novel (preceded by SEA-KISSED, a British collection of 4 stories, and Arkham House's THE OPENER OF THE WAY). The dustjacket biography features his oft-quoted comment "I have the heart of a small boy. I keep it in a jar on my desk." The book is very good, with the standard browning of the pages found in books printed on this grade of paper. The dustjacket has a noticeable stain on the front (and a bit on the page edges and back flap -- it looks as if someone spilled coffee (or a dilute solution of blood? After all, this is a horror novel!) on the book. Fortunately, the effect on the boards is almost invisible. Overall, an acceptable copy.
