Description: Slim 8vo, pictorial dust jacket over terracotta cloth boards with gilt titles on spine, upper edge red. 128pp. Dust jacket not price clipped with some edge wear and a small piece absent. Very good + / near fine and clean inside. There has been an inscription on the front endpaper, which is barely visible & has been rubbed out by a previous owner. 'The Scapegoat' seemed to promise a tale which might combine the tantalizing excitements of a Myth or Dream with the absorbing interest of a vigorous realistic story'. Intense, imaginative unease.
