Description: Very good book in very good dust jacket. First American Edition. Illustrated with 32 pages of b&w photographs. Dark blue cloth covered boards with silver gilt lettering and graphics on spine. Boards are clean, spine lettering is crisp. Crimping at head and tail of board spine. Age-toning to external page edges; small stains toward spine on lower external edges. Two small previous owner's labels on front paste-down and FFEP. Light age-toning to all internal pages, else clean and with snug text block. Dust jacket has shelf-wear scuffs, soil, and yellowing, more obvious against the white backgrounds. Extremities are sunned. Spine and fore-edge folds are sunned and scuffed but not rubbed through. Edge-wear in general of small chips and tiny closed tears. Several notable losses along the upper edges: Loss across width at head of spine of 3/4" by up to 1/2" at back corner; 5/8" by 1/4" at front corner and with adjacent 7/8" closed vertical tear along the front spine fold; center of upper edge of back panel has a v-shaped loss of 1/2" by 3/8" with adjacent small chips and creases; upper right fore-edge corner has rectangular loss of 3/4" by up to 3/8" and with adjacent closed tears of 1/2" (vertical), 3/4" (diagonal), and several adjacent diagonal creases to the upper back edge. Upper edge of front jacket panel has a 3/4" cloud vertical tear near the spine and several adjacent diagonal creases of up to 1/2" to the upper edge. Lower edge at tail of jacket spines chipped and with loss on both front and back corners of up to 1/4". Lower edge of front jacket panel has a 5/8" closed vertical tear near center with adjacent diagonal creases to the lower edge in both directions, of 3" toward the spine and 1 1/2" toward the lower right front fore-edge corner. Lower edge of back jacket panel has a closed 1 1/4" diagonal tear from the fore-edge corner into back panel, and with two adjacent diagonal creases of up to 7/8" to the lower edge. All fore-edge corners are rubbed and with small degree of loss. Inside front flap has faint remnants of tag removal; price of $4.50 is intact.
