Red buckram cloth, ornate gilt embossed title to front cover and spine, all edges gilt; 40 B/W Dore engravings and 20 brown monochrome illustrations by Paton on full-page plates. Text in black with red titles, drop-caps and marginal glosses. Some handsoil and dampstain to cover, FFEP cracking just over cords, binding very tight and square otherwise. Entirely fresh and clean contents.
