Description: Handsomely rebound in a full red morocco by The Chelsea Bindery (signed in gilt): spine with five raised band, six box compartments in gold, both boards boxed in gold, board edges also lined, top edge original gilt, top board with an elaborate "The Sonnets of William Shakespeare" in gold. Inner boards with gold gauffering and marbled endpapers. This is No. 187 of of 470 copies printed in Caslon's Old Face on Barcham Green paper. The binding has a single pinhole-size worn spot on one corner and a couple of other minor scuffs and imperfections -- not quite fine but certainly lovely and impressive, joints completely flexible and without wear. Contents again not quite fine: gift inscription on the front blank provided by Chelsea Bindery, single page with a little wrinkle to the top edge, contents free of all foxing. A beautiful book.

Slight offset onto endpapers, otherwise a near fine copy With an appealling provenance: From the collection of Thomas Yoseloff (1913-2007), who purchased the Golden Cockerel Press in 1959 and hence by family descent.
