Price: US$299.00 + shipping

Condition: Very Good

Description: New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1962. Original blue cloth, spine lettered in gilt. Back of dust jacket partially ripped and missing, while spine of dj has slight tear on top and yellowing from age, down the dj spine. First edition, first printing. A collection of Fitzgerald's stories about Pat Hobby, a Hollywood writer "who was hot stuff when the movies were dumb", published in Esquire magazine between January 1940 and May 1941.The introduction of this edition was written by Arnold Gingrich, the publisher of Esquire, as well as a dear friend to Fitzgerald in his latter years. Gingrich was able to compile the complete collection of these seventeen stories into this one book. As Fitzgerald had himself worked, frustratingly, as a Hollywood writer, these experiences influenced the Pat Hobby stories as well as his unfinished masterpiece The Love of the Last Tycoon. A real gem to own.
