Description: First Edition. Oatmeal cloth with brown stamped titles and decoration to the front and a gilt stamped black titles label to the spine. Top edge tan, other edges uncut (xiv)146(2)pp with a pictorial title page, 20 full page colour plates and 32 red line illustrations within the text. With original brown paper dust jacket and 42/- price to the spine. The boards have been well protected by the jacket and are clean and bright with just a hint of dust marking to the edges. The spine tips have been a little pushed and the cloth on the bottom corner edge of the rear board is rubbed. Internally, the book has no name inscription or bookplate but does have some light spotting mainly but not exclusively to the uncut edges. There is also an area of toning to the front free endpaper where something has been laid in the book at some point. The dust jacket, which is now protected in a removable, clear cover (not shown), is remarkably well preserved considering its age with minor loss to the spine tips and corners and a tiny 3mm chip on the top edge of the rear panel. There is 1cm closed tear on the top edge of the front panel with creasing along the top edge.
