Condition: Good

Description: The spine is faded at the top and bottom with a small tear at the bottom next to the front panel. The edges are browned with some small dents to the bottom edge of the front panel and there is a small raised bump on the rear panel. Page edges a little browned. Pink crayon initials of a previous owner on the front pastedown. Scattered spotting to the endpapers. The pages have a few small tears to the bottom edges but are otherwise generally unmarked. The jacket is badly torn with a four inch closed tear along the spine and the front panel at the bottom and a three inch closed tear at the top with chipping at the top and bottom and three tears across the spine - it has been repaired to the reverse. There are a number of chips out of the top and bottom edges of the front and rear panels with chipping and loss at the corners and creasing to the bottom right corner of the front panel. There are four dark tape marks to the reverse of the jacket from earlier repairs. Illustrated by Edward Ardizzone. First printing.
