The Old Reliable is a novel by P.G. Wodehouse, first published in the United Kingdom on April 18, 1951 by Herbert Jenkins, London and in the United States on October 11, 1951 by Doubleday & Co, New York. The novel was serialized in Collier's magazine from 24 June to 22 July 1950, under the title "Phipps to the Rescue". The story is set in Hollywood, and follows the romantic and financial difficulties of various film stars, writers, movie moguls, butlers and safe-crackers. The Old Reliable was adapted as a made-for-TV movie in 1988 under the title Tales from the Hollywood Hills: The Old Reliable and starred Lynn Redgrave as Wilhemina ("Bill") Shannon, the "old reliable" of the title. Condition: Light edge wear, front heal corner bumped. Jacket corners and spine ends lightly chipped, light edge wear with some small chips and closed tears, spine sunned and soiled, black lettering front wrapper slightly blurred else a very good copy in like jacket.
