Description: 1964. Second impression. 191pp. William Trevor (1928-2016) was an Irish novelist, playwright and short story writer, and was widely regarded as one of the greatest contemporary writers of short stories in the English language. 'The Old Boys' is one of his most notable works and concerns a group of elderly men on the board of a society for the old boys of an unnamed English public school and the power politics and old rivalries that come into play during the election of a new president for the Old Boys Association. The book is bound in the original grey paper covered boards with gold titling on the spine. The case of the book is in very good condition with very light bumping to the bottom of the spine and bottom corners. The contents are tight and clean with no inscription. The unclipped dustwrapper has some shelf wear with light soiling and some staining on the spine and back of the wrapper. The spine and top 1" of the back and top 1/2" of the front of the wrapper are browned, possibly from smoke. The spine ends and corners are lightly bumped with some nicks at the spine ends. There is a tear of about 3/8" on the bottom front spine edge that has been repaired on the reverse with tape.

Jacket has faults - namely edge/shelf wear, minor foxing, few small marks, patchy browning (including to spine), creasing/rubbing to edges, little pushing/rubbing to head/tail of spine, a couple of small (approx. 1cm) tears, a couple of other very small (approx. 3mms) tears, little patchy lifting to top (plastic) surface, pushing/bumping to corners, the odd scratch, little creasing/browning to front/back inner flaps and is in only good condition. Boards are very good with a little pushing/bumping to corners, the odd small bump/rub to edges and very minor pushing/rubbing to head/tail of spine. Pages are generally clean and the binding is tight. Pages are a bit tanned. Odd small mark/spot of foxing to page edges, tops and bottoms. Very occasional small mark/spot of foxing to pages. No other faults. All books described honestly and accurately. Paypal accepted.
