Description: 1st edition of Herbert Carr's and George Lister's edited collection of writings on the mountains of Snowdonia. 403 pages printed and bound on red cloth boards which bear age-related marks as follows: sunned spine; other fade-marks to tops and edges of boards; small stain marks, rubs and bumps. The spine is loose, but intact and the book remains tightly bound. Free end papers are fox-marked as are other (but not all) pages throughout the book. Contents are organised into sections as follows: Part I, Historical; Part II Science; Part III Literature; Part IV Sport; Appendices I-IV. Chapter XVII, titled, 'Notes on Angling' includes a pull-out Table on the 'best fishing lakes in Snowdonia'. Appendix II, titled 'Principal Passes or Gaps', includes a pull-out table listing the passes, a pull-out table naming the principal mountains over 2,000ft in height, a pull-out table listing the principal rivers and a pull-out table listing the fifty principal crags "of interest to climbers" - the latter table has frayed page ends, all the others are Good. Appendix III, titled, 'Sketch-Maps of Snowdonia' has five pull-out outline b. & w. maps, all Good. An early chapter titled 'The Mountains in Legend and History' also has a pull-out map, in Good condition. In total, there are 58 illustrations (including one colour plate to frontispiece, b. & w. photographs and other diagrams). Overall, condition is deemed to be Good-minus. Listed in Neate, C.16.
