MACKENZIE, Compton. The Monarch of the Glen. Chatto & Windus, London, 1941.

Price: US$2000.00 + shipping

Condition: Near Fine

Description: First edition. Octavo. Boards a little cocked and rubbed, very good in an attractive very good price-clipped dustwrapper with a modest hole on the spine near the front spine fold. Inscribed by the author: "To William Maxton, with my good wish, from Compton Mackenzie, Barra. March 10, 42." Mackenzie lived on the island of Barra, where he wrote this book. A notable title, one of the author's most popular titles, and basis for a beloved television series. A nice copy of a cheaply produced wartime title, seldom found signed.
