Description: When Science Fiction Grand Master Bradbury wrote this book in 1958, he set the First Expedition to Mars in 1999, with other expeditions and colonization of the planet in the first decade of the new millenium. Reading "The Chronicles" now at the end of that decade provides an interesting perspective on Bradbury's writing. Whatever his imagination conjured about technology and conditions on Mars, he was right on target about humanity and society. Spine ends lightly bumped, a trace of foxing on text edges, o/w text and boards are clean and unmarked, tight and square. The dustjacket's color has faded along the spine and shows wear along the edges and at corners, particularly at the spine ends with several small tears and some chipping. The back panel has two tears, one 3/4", the other 1 1/2", on the upper edge. Both front and back panels show some minor soiling and scratching. All that said, the dj is basically whole and looks quite presentable in a mylar protector.
