Description: The Man who Made Gold, Hilaire Belloc. 1930. London: Arrowsmith. With drawings by G. K. Chesterton, the new Chester-Belloc. 8vo. Dust edition, first printing. Brown cloth with yellow lettering to spine, publishers dark topstain, with superb Chesterton illustrations throughout. A very good or better book, the cloth clean, the binding very firm and tight with a gentle lean, the textblock with some spots. Internally, some offsetting to endpapers and scattered foxing to prelims, but largely clean and fine. The scarce dust jacket is unclipped with the spine darkened and some scattered foxing to all panels including the flaps, with a few tiny closed tears and small nicks at corners and tips. Overall an excellent copy.
