Description: A handsome First Edition of this charming Waugh book, complete with the original dustjacket. The interior of the book is exceptionally clean and bright although the front cloth covers show some fading. A likely association copy; the title page has the name "Stephen Longstreet/ix (?) '48," possible association copy belonging to artist and author Stephen Longstreet (1907-2002). The dustjacket is complete with the original price ($2.50). The ends of the spine are reinforced with brown tape (not visible from the front) which may repair a small cut on the bottom end but not for sure since the dustjacket shows no other wear. There is some darkening, especially on the creases and spine. But overall a solid First Edition with a possible association name.

Grey cloth boards with green stamped title & Author on binding as well as a vase on front board. Some fading around edges of boards; slight bumping on either ends of the binding. Unclipped dustjacket designed by Samuel Bryant in fair condition with some wearing around the front flap as well as very slight tearing and wearing on both ends of spine, otherwise in very good condition. 164 pages in excellent condition, with very minimal pencilled underlining by prior owner.Before the beginning of the story, there is a page labeled "A Warning", an almost tongue-in-cheek description of the story and the readers' expectations. Waugh describes this short novel as a "purely fanciful tale, a little nightmare produced by the unaccustomed high living of a brief visit to Hollywood".
