Description: 1927. No Edition Remarks. 326 pages. No dust jacket. This is an ex-Library book. Blue cloth. Book has been rebound by library, with expected inserts, stamps and inscriptions. Slight cracking to gutters causing binding to be loose, however pages remain attached. Pages have light tanning and foxing throughout. Water staining to some pages edges, text remains unaffected. Boards have moderate shelf-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Light tanning to spine and edges with crushing to spine ends. Splits to spine ends causing cloth to be frayed. Plastic to spine.

Signed by the author at the head of the title-page, and uncommon thus. Lewis's discursion, typically tangential, on Shakespeare's plotting and characterisation. Condition good, corners and spine ends rubbed, spine a bit sunned, there is foxing to the edge of the text block and the first and last 20 or so pages, then just at the page edges for the rest of the pages. Variant 2 with Richards stamped in gilt at the base of the spine.
