The 2 covers are almost identical for slight color diffierence and height difference in raised bands. The front board of volume 1 is detached (present) and the boards on volume two are cracked at hinges but held well currently by the heavy threads. Spine are straight. Binding of contents is solid. Former owner's name in antiquated ink at top of title page of volume 1. Pages are toned with modest foxing and one page with marginal notes but in very good condition and quite suitable for rebinding. 12 engraved plates in each volume for a total of 24. Engraved headpieces, tailpieces, and illuminated (b&w) letters.
