Description: A limited edition of 325 numbered copies (of which 300 were for sale), printed by H.P.R.Finberg at the Alcuin Press (this being #76). 4to. 192pp. Burgundy buckram with bevelled edges, lettered in gold at the spine and with a gilt-stamped decoration to the upper board. All edges gilt. The title page printed in black and red with a two-colour decoration, and with decorated initials throughout. The buckram very slightly faded at the backstrip, with a tiny touch of wear to several corner tips, and little light scoring. A trace of toning to the front free endpaper. Former owner name neatly inked to the head of the front endpaper, and a tiny dealer plate to the base of the rear pastedown. A very good copy of Cavendish's celebrated biography of Cardinal Wolsey, the "most important single contemporary source for Wolsey's life" - Oxford Dictionary of National Biography.

The press was housed in a malt house behind Elm Tree House, High Street, Chipping Campden, Gloucestershire. Using modern machinery, Finberg produced fine books in small editions using hand-set types on hand-made paper.
