Ruth Plumly Thompson and L. Frank Baum. The Hungry Tiger of Oz. The Reilly & Lee Co. of Chicago, 1926.

Price: US$500.00 + shipping

Condition: Good

Description: The Hungry Tiger of Oz is nineteenth in the Oz series, and continued the legacy of original author L. Frank Baum. This installment was written by Ruth Plumly Thompson, and includes color plates used for several lavish illustrations; a further indicator of its age and rareness, see pictures for details. This book is intact, and the pages are primarily unmarked. A few pages are a bit loose. On a title page, one of the book's owners, perhaps the first, wrote her name in cursive that suggests she received the book when she was very young. Also, this individual's initials have been brightly drawn on the inside back of the front cover, see pictures. Where the cover meets the binding at either end, a previous owner has completed some repair work. The front cover does open loosely. However, as stated, it is still attached, as are all original pages, see pictures. On the first title page, there is a very small puncture. The book is in readable condition, though it does require delicacy. It's best for display and collection purposes; especially considering that it contains multiple full-color pictures, and is slightly larger than most of today's hardcover books at 9.25 by 7 inches. This is a very rare book, and a fitting piece for any Oz collector. 261 Numbered Pages
