Description: Blindstamped boards with black decoration and gilt titles. Boards with some wear and soil.Rear boards with some scratching and shallow ripples. Spine with black and gilt decoration and wear. Spine extremities with wear, absence of cloth to edges, chipping, fray. Tear/split about a half inch above tail with small absence of cloth. Corners bumped, bowed, loss of cloth, board exposure. Wear to hinges and joints. Gilt edges with wear. Split hinge with internal tape mend. Rubbing and edge wear to endpapers and pastedowns. Lightly blackened area to top of front endpaper with the brown color from endpaper rubbing through FEP verso. Front fly with small tear at hinge. Frontispiece missing. Foxing, smudging here and there. Tanning throughout. 464 pages. Ephemera laid in. Images can be provided upon request.

Illustrated by 306 engravings on wood from the drawings of the author. A few surface scratches on the boards. Book is tight and square. Pages mildly toned.
