Description: First UK Edition An absolutely beautiful book illustrated by Ernest H. Shepard. There is some light fading on the cover and the spine. There are some marks on the back cover. Otherwise the hardcover is in good condition. The binding is sound. There are no loose pages. There is a small sticker from a previous bookseller on the bottom of the inside front cover. There is an old price written in blue pen on the top of the front free end page. The top pages edges are gilt. There is some light foxing on the fore page edges as well as on the first and last few pages. There is a light stain on the top of the first title page. Inscription on back of front free endpaper reading "To Mrs. V---, wishing her a very happy Xmas from the L--- family." Pages otherwise clean. Binding cracked along hinges, faintly visible at title page and more visible between back endpapers. About an inch long glimpse of backing linen visible at back hinge, matching flap of paper lifted in closed tear from back attached endpaper where it used to cover that section of the backing linen. Description: This is the First Edition (London) in salmon colored cloth with gold stamped illustration on front cover and gold lettering on spine. Top page edges gilt (gold). Decorated/illustrated endpapers and pastedowns, 178 numbered pages. Book is in wonderful condition and is housed in the original unclipped pictorial dustjacket which has very minor nibbles on the top inside DJ flaps otherwise in very nice condition with minor fading. The bookplate of Theodore Zarifi is present on the verso of the front endpaper. The information I found on the internet is as follows: (Name Colin Richard Theodore Zarifi, Birth 24 Feb 1917 Baptism23 May 1919, St Sophia, Moscow Road, Bayswater, London, England, Note 1Greek Gazette describes him as the son of Alexandra Th. Zarifi (1866-1932). However, he was the son (almost certainly illegimate) of Fanny Zarifi (b. 1891) and adopted by his grandmother Alexandra whose will names him as Colin Richard Theodore Zarifi. Description: A quite scarce Limited Numbered First Edition signed by the author A.A. Milne and illustrator Ernest Shepherd and numbered 302 of only 350 signed limited edition copies. Original cloth-backed boards bound in blue cloth with cream-colored boards, with paper label with black type on front cover. Volume has minor foxing and soiling to boards, a bit of dusting to fore-edge of the rough-cut pages which are moderately darkened with age. The dustjacket is well worn, browned and soiled with chips at spine ends and edges but it has protected the book quite well and the black titling on the front panel is quite clear, although the titling on the spine is rubbed. This signed limited edition is quite scarce when signed by Milne.

All four volumes are in publisher's original cloth (royal blue, dark green, maroon and pink) and stamped in gilt, with top edges gilt, lacking the dust jackets; housed in a custom cloth slipcase. Volumes average Very Good, with light wear and soiling, uneven sunning to two volumes, former owner names to front, foxing to textblock edge and toning to pages, endsheets browned. Strip of adhesive remnant to front paste down above where Milne's signature is adhered. A lovely set.

Description: First edition, first printing. Published by Methuen in London, 1928. This is a very fine copy. The dust wrapper, decorated by E.H. Shepard, is with only slight rubbing at the corners and at the tail of the spine. It has not been price clipped. The text blocks are without any notable wear but slightly foxed to the bottom edge. The top gilt is bright and without abrasion. The internal illustrations are all present and the boards are free from notable chips and marks. This copy is free from previous owners ink and is in spectacular condition overall. The second volume of stories about Winnie-the-Pooh, it is notable for the introduction of the character Tigger.

Description: Signed extra limited edition, number 15 of 20 large paper copies, printed on Japanese vellum and bound in vellum, signed by both the author and illustrator. This is the most luxurious and exclusive issue of the various formats issued of the first editions of A. A. Milne's Winnie-the-Pooh books, and features the first appearance of Tigger. Milne had bought his son a stuffed tiger, "Tigger", and told Shepard that he was longing to see the illustrations for this new character, who would become one of the author's most popular creations. In the opinion of Milne's biographer, Ann Thwaite, "The House at Pooh Corner is probably now the most loved and popular of all. It introduces Tigger and the game of Poohsticks." (Thwaite, The Brilliant Career of Winnie-the-Pooh, p. 109). Published on 11 October 1928, The House at Pooh Corner was received by critics with a delight tinged by sadness. "The Times Literary Supplement congratulated Milne on avoiding 'the temptation to repeat his successful formula mechanically', though it was 'sad to see the stories end'" (Thwaite, A. A.
