NOTE - THIS WAS A COLLECTION OF SHORT GOTHIC SUPERNATURAL STORIES THAT CHRISTIE'S PUBLISHER COLLINS REJECTED (SINCE THEY WERE NOT MYSTERIES AND CHRISTIE'S PENNAME ROMANCE BOOKS PUBLISHED BY COLLINS HAD SOLD POORLY) - THUS ODHAMS SECURED THE PRINTING RIGHTS IN 1933. BUT DUE TO THE POPULARITY OF THE BOOK COLLINS LATER PURCHASED THE REPRINT RIGHTS FROM ODHAMS IN 1936 AND ISSUED A COLLINS PRINTING IN 1936. Book has just one creased page corner, no former owner or used bookstore markings/stamps inside, clean endpapers with no staining or tape residue - just a hint of foxing, hint of foxing to first few/last few pages (foxing is VERY commonly found with the Odhams 1933 edition further confirming this book used Odhams page stock), slight age darkening/dust soiling/foxing to outer page edges, no fading/wear to lettering on spine or front board, no wear to board edges or board corners, hint of wear to spine tips, none of the usual dust/handling soiling to cloth boards, tiny bumped board corner. Book also comes with a color fascimile of the UK COLLINS ULTRA SCARCE Dust jacket to provide protection from damage and to improve its appearance on a shelf.
