Roosevelt takes Smith's nominating speech at the Houston convention as keynote, painting an intimate portrait. 40 pages.

Description: The Happy Warrior Alfred E. Smith, a Study of a Public Servant by Franklin D. Roosevelt. Published by Houghton Mifflin Company, Boston, 1928. Very good plus, first edition book in very good minus dust jacket. Black cloth covered boards. Orange paper with black text label on front panel and wrapped around to back panel. Outermost edges at head and tail of board spine are lightly rubbed as are fore-edge corner tips. Book is internally clean and text block is snug. Dust jacket is fragile and soiled overall. Spine and fore-edge folds are sunned. Loss along most of upper front and back edges and lower back edge with adjacent closed tears and creases. Upper edge of front panel has 3/4" closed vertical tear above the first "o" in Roosevelt. Back corner at tail of jacket spine has 7/8" closed vertical tear along the back fold. Not price clipped, "75 cents" on upper corner of inside front flap. Please use close up options for best inspection. Additional photos available at your request.
