With illustrated endpapers : illustrated title-page in black & gold : 10 large pictorial initials and tail-pieces : and 24 full-page tissue-guarded colour plates. ** A fine series of colour illustrations, and a famous example of the Romantic Movement in book illustration. 'In 1915 Sheringham illustrated Max Beerbohm's The Happy Hypocrite . This book, which has a pretty, flowery cover, is a curious mixture of coloured lithographs and decorative two-colour initials and line-drawings. Sheringham's softly tinted lithographs have an atmosphere of chintz and pot-pourri. They marked the end of the golden days of pre-1914 England' [John Lewis : The 20th Century Book]. **** To confirm availability before ordering, please click the link Ask Bookseller A Question.
