Description: [1933]. First edition thus. 64pp. "The Great Sermon Handicap" is a short story that features the young gentleman Bertie Wooster and his valet Jeeves. The story was originally published in The Strand Magazine in London in June 1922, and then in Cosmopolitan in New York that same month. The story was also included in the collection 'The Inimitable Jeeves'. In the story, Bertie and others make bets on an event called the Great Sermon Handicap. The book is bound in the original red paper covered boards with gold titling on the front board. The case of the book is in very good condition with some shelf wear and light soiling on the boards and a stain on fore edge of the front board. The The front board, spine and a top 1" or so of the rerar board are noticeably faded. The corners are rubbed and the spine ends are lightly bumped with a small bit of loss to the top of the spine. The contents are tight and clean with no inscription.

Description: London, Hodder and Stoughton, [1933] (first separate issue). Duodecimo (127 × 79 mm), 64 pages. Red leatherette decorated and lettered in gilt on the front cover, and ruled in blind front and rear; covers a little rubbed at the extremities, lightly marked and a little sunned (mainly on the spine), with trifling loss of surface colour in three tiny areas; a very good copy (internally fine), with a discreet signature and pre-war date on the half-title. This short story was originally published in 'The Strand Magazine' in June 1922.
