Here's Flowers - An Anthology of Flower Poems compiled by Joan Rutter (4pp fine condition with a sample page and a full-page wood engraving by John O'Connor); 3. Mr. Chambers and Persephone by Christopher Whitfield (4pp near-fine condition with a sample page and one full page sample plate of a wood engraving by Dorothea Braby); 4. Description: The sole UK printing of this illustrated edition published by the Golden Cockerel Press, London in 1937. The BOOK is in Very Good++ or better condition. Number '182' of 126 'ordinary' copies, of a total edition of 206 copies. Printed in terracotta and black in New Hellenic Greek and Perpetual Roman type on F.J. Head grey handmade paper. Folio, bound by Sangorski and Sutcliffe in original crushed black quarter pigskin with terracotta cloth sides, spine lettered in gilt, top edge gilt, and others uncut. Slight toning from the turn-ins of the morocco spine affecting the very edge of the end-papers with the very light occasional mark to the boards. Light toning to the extreme page edges in places. 14 zinc line engravings by Lettice Sandford. 'The rough grey paper was intended to give the impression of the stone on which so many of the ancient poems had been preserved, and the terracotta and black findings that of Grecian Urns'. Sanford's engraving are beautiful and sensuous' (Pertelote: Bibliography of the Golden Cockerel Press,129). The book is protected in a removable Mylar archival cover. A very handsome production.
